Finally Chan-wook Park's brilliant and harrowing trilogy comes to blu-ray in a magnificent package and a breathtaking transfer to blu-ray. This trilogy is one of the most powerful, disturbing, and intelligent film series that has ever been released in my opinion.
Even though this trilogy is not made up of direct sequels (spiritual ones) all three of these movies are incredibly powerful and provide an immense background into revenge and vengeance (possibly redemption?) that has not been seen in any other movie to date. I will not spoil the movies as this is a review of the Blu Ray and not the movie itself, if you want a review of the plots then go Here (these are the reviews of Sympathy for Mr. Vengance, but there will be links for the other two).
Vengeance Trilogy Video Quality
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance
It is in a aspect ratio of 2.31:1, encoded with MPEG-4 AVC and is a stunning 1080p transfer. The colours of this film are stunning. Making this one of the best transfers I have seen of any Korean movie to date. This is what the standard of Blu Ray is.
Oldboy
It is in a aspect ratio of 2.30:1, encoded with MPEG-4 AVC and is a beautiful 1080p transfer. Like the above the colours are stunning, but this is a different beast as the colours are a darker tone to fit the movies mood and it works very well (almost to well).
Sympathy for Lady Vengeance
It is in a aspect ratio of 2.33:1, encoded with MPEG-4 AVC and is the best looking at a 1080p transfer. Though the last movie in the series it shows how the camera's had been up graded. This movie while having the lighter colours is almost the darkest beast of them all.

There is only one audio track on this Blu-ray disc: Korean DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. For the record, Alliance have provided optional English and French subtitles for the main feature. When turned on, both appear inside the image frame.
Oldboy
There are five audio tracks on this Blu-ray disc: Korean DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1, Korean Dolby Digital 5.1 EX, Korean Dolby Digital 2.0, English Dolby Digital 5.1, and English Dolby Digital 2.0. For the record, Alliance have provided optional English and French subtitles for the main feature. When the English subtitles are turned on, the split the image frame and the black bar below it. When the French subtitles are turned on, they appear inside the image frame.
Sympathy for Lady Vengeance
There is only one track available for the two version of the film: Korean DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. For the record, Alliance have provided optional English and French subtitles for the main feature. When turned on, they appear inside the image frame.
Vengeance Trilogy Extra's
There are a lot of extra's that make this a wise purchase. From making of to commentaries there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Overall this is a must buy if you are a fan of Park's work or a fan of this genre.
